The Instituto Nacional de Tecnología, Normalización y Metrología (INTN) was established by Law No. 862 on 26 June 1963. It is an incorporated, self-financing body, linked to the Executive through the Ministry of Industry and Trade. INTN has its headquarters in Asunción, capital of Paraguay.

The Institute's main objectives as the National Standards Body are the development, publication and application of technical standards. The INTN develops other activities such as: Metrology, Testing Labs, Certification of products, research and technology transfer for industries and enterprises.

INTN represents Paraguay in various standardization fora; it is a correspondent member of ISO, and it is an affiliate member of the IEC. It is a full member of COPANT (Comisión Panamericana de Normas Técnicas) and co-founding full member of the CMN (Comité Mercosur de Normalización), which is in charge of developing Mercosur standards. INTN is the contact point for the CODEX Alimentarius Commission.
